As many people have over the last few years. I became less physically active and gained a considerable amount of weight. Here are four ways I snuck 10k steps into my week:
🧺 Clean Every Day
There is always something in the house that can use a bit of a tidy-up. And yes, even in this world where we travel and live out of Airbnbs. Sweet daily, clean up areas that accumulate dust and re-organize anything you might have moved out of its normal place.
💃🏾 Dance For One Hour
Dancing is a great cardio exercise that gets your heart pumping and your lungs working and is a seamless way to get your steps in. Depending on the tempo, dancing for 1 hour in your day can get you anywhere from 5-7k steps, assuming you already walk a minimum of 4k-5kmin steps per day.
🛒 Go Shopping Physically
If you’ve become used to ordering for everything, including groceries, house items, and clothing, you will likely reduce how many steps you will average daily. Try for 30 days to get rid of your fast delivery subscription (cough amazon) and go physically shopping instead. It’s surprising how easily you can walk 10K steps getting groceries and physically running errands yourself.
🚶🏾Opt For Video Free Meetings
You may find yourself sitting down all day in meetings. If you work at a company where you can have old-school-style phone calls or zoom calls without video, opt for it! And spend your meetings pacing as you talk. One meeting, one hour of pacing, 3.5-7k steps/hr.
